African Insurer Strengthens Environmental and Social Management System

We updated and aligned an insurance company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) with international best practices, including new policies and procedures.

Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) are essential for organizations to incorporate Environmental and Social (E&S) objectives into their activities. Like all business tools, an ESMS needs to be maintained and upgraded to stay relevant.

For that reason, Momentus (formerly IFCL) was engaged to upgrade the ESMS of an African insurance company for a specific line of business. We ensured that the ESMS was aligned with international best practices by addressing identified gaps in the system. We developed an E&S policy, updated and defined E&S procedures, and developed a guidance note.

Our work has strengthened the insurance company’s ability to stay aligned with international best-practices and its own E&S objectives.
